Basketball is life in Indiana – and not just for boys. Princeton (Indiana) High School senior Jackie Young helped prove that as she earned the title of Indiana’s all-time leading scorer – boys and girls.

Young first passing the girls leading scorer, Wawasee’s Shanna Zolman (3,085 points), then dethroning Damon Bailey of Bedford North Lawrence High School (3,134 points). Young wrapped up her high school career last month with a total of 3,268 career points, becoming just the fifth Indiana high school basketball player to reach 3,000 points and the second girl to reach the mark.

Young’s 39-point game on January 14 pushed her past Bailey’s career total, which was in place for 25 years.  She finished the season with an average of 34.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.9 steals per game. Young will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame this fall.
