The NFHS Participation Figures Search survey provides a year-by-year history of boys and girls high school participation figures contained in the High School Athletics Participation Survey conducted by the National Federation of State High School Associations. It provides national participation figures of both the number of student-athletes participating in a particular sport ("Boys Participation" and "Girls Participation"), as well as the number of high schools offering a particular sport ("Boys Schools" and "Girls Schools").

To obtain figures for a particular sport for a particular year, click on the left selection box (Sport), and when the choices drop down, click on the particular sport you are seeking. Then, click on the right selection box (School Year), and when the choices drop down, click on the particular school year you are seeking. Then, click on the box entitled, "Find Participation Figures."

For example, if you were to click on "Basketball" and "2001-02", the boys and girls basketball participation figures for the 2001-02 school year would appear.

To obtain figures for a particular sport for all of the years in which the survey has been conducted, click on the left selection box (Sport), and when the choices drop down, click on the particular sport you are seeking. Then, click on the "Find Participation Figures" box. Do not click on the right box (School Year).

For example, if you were to click on "Basketball" and "Find Participation Figures", the boys and girls basketball participation figures for every year the survey has been conducted will appear. This will provide you with an easy, year-by-year history of participation figures in that particular sport.
