NFHS Coach Education Program FAQ's
Q. Why is the NFHS developing these
courses?
A. To provide an affordable and
unique coach education program to meet the needs of interscholastic coaches in
fulfilling the mission and purpose of our state association member schools. It
will provide online and blended (a combination of face-to-face and online
instruction) education to meet the needs of specific state requirements for
coaches.
Q. How long will it take a coach to
complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course?
A. The online course will take four
to six hours. The blended course is being designed to allow states to present
in four to eight hours.
Q. Do current instructors have to
recertify as an instructor in the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course?
A. No, each state will have the
authority to select and approve its own instructors.
Q. Can anyone become an instructor in
the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course?
A. No, only if they have the approval
of their respective state association.
Q. How will I sign up for the
courses?
A. All registration for the courses
will be online. Check with your state's athletic/activities association as to
how to register for the courses. Register for e-mail updates or continue to
check this Web site for further information.
Q. What differences will there be between
the online and blended versions?
A. There will be no difference in
content, only in delivery systems.
Q Why is the First Aid for Coaches course
only offered online?
A. The content can be delivered most
consistently in this manner, rather than training individuals to deliver this
material.
Q.What about my state's CPR
requirement?
A. As a coach, you would still be
required to complete the CPR certification with a qualified instructor.
Q. What about testing?
A. All testing will be done online.
Q. Will there be a certificate
issued?
A. Yes. Once you complete the course, you will be
able to print verification of course completion. That will prompt the printing
and mailing of a certificate to you within 2-3 weeks.
