Some description

Whitney Tech High School, in Hamden, Connecticut, was founded in 1956 and is named for Eli Whitney, the famous inventor of the cotton gin. For most of its existence, the school’s mascot was the Inventors, in recognition of Whitney. Roughly 10 years ago, the school changed its nickname to the Screaming Owls in an attempt to align itself with the nearby Southern Connecticut State University Owls.
